POSITION SUMMARY
Develop a daily route based on student ridership using a computerized routing program and be proficient in reading maps. Drive a school van to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule. Complies with all licensing and traffic regulations.

- Drives a school van safely and professionally, showing proficiency in handling and maneuvering.
- Performs, and properly completes, daily pre-trip and post trip inspections.
- Complies with all traffic ordinances.
- Complies with discipline polices set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
- Participates in on-site training.
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to perform frequent and repetitive physical labor that includes lifting, bending, flexing, pushing and climbing.
- Develops route schedule using a computer routing program.
- Contacts parent/guardian to communicate pick up and/or drop off times.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises students while transporting.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License with no points.
- Must be able to obtain Michigan Chauffeur’s license.
- Must be able to successfully pass physical exam, and test negative for prohibited substances.
